Andean Grit
Endurance adventurers Mark and Caroline Livesey return to Colombia for their second time to tackle this epic eight-day gravel race. Transcordilleras, Colombia, is without doubt one of the most gruelling gravel stage races in the world. From extreme weather to never-ending mountain passes, some over 4000m in altitude, each day pushes their limits physically and mentally in jaw-dropping landscapes. Alongside the pain, a familiar theme emerges: the joyous hospitality of the Colombian people. On and off the gravel, this film highlights how Colombians—proud, welcoming, and endlessly resourceful—empower the riders. Whether helping fix punctures at roadside shops or improvising mechanical solutions in remote locations, their generosity becomes the emotional backbone of the competition. Both the Colombian competitors and the locals along the route inject kindness, which creates a unique experience for the riders. Beyond the landscape, the documentary reveals a deep camaraderie among the competitors. Bonding through shared struggles, riders from around the globe—from professional cyclists to weekend warriors—form friendships that will endure long after the finish line.
