Diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease at the age of 38, Rodrigo Mendes turned to physical activity on medical advice, discovering in mountaineering a powerful source of strength, energy and inspiration. As his passion for the mountains grows, he takes on increasingly demanding challenges, including Mount Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua. Awakening follows Rodrigo’s determination to manage his condition, preserve his physical and mental well-being, and push back the limitations of Parkinson’s for as long as possible, all while continuing to pursue new dreams and adventures in the mountains.
