Dissidence
Two unexpected names are emerging on the World Climbing Championship scene: Ravianto and Raviandi Ramadhan, twin brothers from Indonesia. With limited resources but unwavering determination, these young climbers have travelled across the world in pursuit of their dream. Dissidence follows their extraordinary journey from the training walls of Jakarta to a legendary climbing route in Savoie, France, as they navigate the barriers and inequalities of the system. The film is structured around the very route that gives it its title, located in La Balme de Yenne in Savoie. Both beautiful and demanding, it begins in the shadow of an overhang before breaking into the light, a powerful reflection of the twins’ own path. Raviandi and Ravianto rose from near invisibility to international recognition through sheer will, courage, and relentless work, climbing against systemic limitations, lack of resources, and absence of support. In doing so, they forged their own line. Their Dissidence is not rebellion, but elevation — a dream shaped by effort, solitude, and the unbreakable strength of their brotherly bond. Official Selection 2026: VIMFF. Official Selections 2025: Banff World Tour, FIFAD, Chamonix Film Festical.
