Mallory Reimagined
Could George Mallory have reached the summit of Everest in 1924? Identical twins Hugo and Ross Turner, better known as the Turner Twins, embark on an expedition to Mera Peak (6,476 m) in the Nepalese Himalayas to investigate one of mountaineering’s greatest mysteries. One twin wears replica clothing and equipment from Mallory’s era, while the other uses modern high-performance gear. Using state-of-the-art scientific technology, the twins measure skin temperature, cognitive performance, cortisol and glucose levels to compare how the two sets of equipment perform at high altitude. Combining adventure, history and science, Mallory Reimagined explores the capabilities of early mountaineering gear and sheds new light on the challenges Mallory may have faced during his historic Everest expedition. Official Selection 2026: Rio Mountain Festival.
