The Atlantic Record / El Récord del Atlántico

The Atlantic Record: 4,525 Miles Solo. In March 2024, 29-year-old sailor Aina Bauza set out solo from Cádiz, Spain, to San Salvador, Bahamas, crossing the Atlantic nonstop in a 6.5-meter Mini yacht, Redó. Over 30 days and 4,800 nautical miles, she became the first person to complete this route solo on a monohull—and the first woman to attempt it. The Atlantic Record, a short documentary by Nathan Siegel and produced by Laura Quinto, captures her extraordinary journey. Living aboard her tiny boat, Aina sailed up to 18 knots, embracing the challenge with joy, calm, and infectious energy. With stunning visuals by Oscar Torveo, Siegel, and Bauza herself, the film offers an intimate portrait of a young woman navigating the ocean’s raw beauty and power with grace and grit. Official Selections 2024: Ocean Film Fest, Sail in Fest.
