The Edge of the Frame

The Edge of the Frame explores the artistry of rock climbing and its surprising parallels with ballet and breakdancing. While cliffs and mountains differ from dance studios and opera stages, climbing shares the precision, rhythm, and elegance of dance. Traveling across Europe, Australian climber Simon Blair trains with Scottish dancer Rosie Mackley to study ballet’s delicate footwork and meets Czech breakdancer Kristian Mensa in Prague, learning the power and fluidity of Hip Hop. German bouldering champion Helene Wolf demonstrates spectacular wall leaps, while Italian explorer Alex Bellini offers guidance on adventuring responsibly in nature, highlighting ecological responsibility. Simon travels without cars, living in the wild for months at a time. His European journey gradually becomes a meditation on humanity’s relationship with the natural world, emphasizing the importance of connection as the planet nears critical ecological tipping points. Official Selection 2025: Graz Mountainfilm Festival.
