Zanzara and Labbradoro
Roberto Bassi, born in Milan in 1961 and raised in Trento, revolutionized European free climbing. Starting at 15 through the legendary Graffer School, his 1979 trip to Yosemite with climbing pioneers transformed his approach—from conquering peaks to mastering extreme difficulties using pure body movement. Returning to Italy, Roberto helped open iconic routes in the Sarca Valley, turning Arco into a world-renowned climbing hub. A quiet but pivotal figure, he also excelled in early climbing competitions before choosing to pursue discovery and the beauty of movement over competitive success. Told through interviews with renowned climbers like Manolo and Jerry Moffatt, the film captures Roberto’s influence on climbing’s evolution, his spirit of adventure, and the friendships that defined an era. Best Mountaineering Film - Nuovi Mondi Film Festival 2015. Special Mention - OFF Orobie 2015. Official Selections 2015: Trento Film Festival, Sestriere Film Festival, Cervino Mountain Film Festival, Milano Film Festival, Verona Film Festival.
